Ad-Hoc committee

On Behalf of Melanie Hamilton

Hello Faculty,

As you may or may not be aware, the incidences of "Contract Cheating" in post-secondary education are on the rise.  Basically, contract cheating is defined as: another person than the student completing the work (paid or unpaid) on the student's behalf for a course.

According to the research, there has been an insurgence of contract cheating in Canada and Canada is tied with the UK for second place in the world for students who placed online orders for papers or assignments in the past few years.

The International Centre for Academic Integrity (ICAI) has created the International Day of Action Against Contract Cheating.   The intent of the day is to create awareness for students to understand why they should not participate in contract charing and for staff to prevent and deal with this new type of cheating.

We are looking for a faculty member to volunteer to sit on the planning committee for this event, which will take place this year on Oct 16 from 11am-2pm in the Center Core.  The time commitment for this committee should be minimal (between 4-6 hours) between now and Oct 16th.

If you are interesting, please contact me via email: melanie.hamilton@lethbridgecollege.ca

If you have any questions about contract cheating and strategies to prevent stop by the office or email me and we will set up a time to chat.
