Campus Rekeying Project – Distribution of New Keys

OH BEHALF OF ADMINISTRATION:

As many of you know, we are in the process of undertaking a campus-wide rekeying project. This is an important campus security initiative to ensure authorized employees have access to campus facilities. By completing this work over the summer months, we can minimize disruptions while many employees are away from campus and ensure the new keying system is in place before the busy Fall semester begins.

With many faculty and staff returning to campus in mid-August, we expect that a significant number of people will need to pick up their new keys over a relatively short period of time. To make this process as smooth and convenient as possible, we are proposing the following distribution plan.

Instead of having everyone come to Facilities and Campus Development, we will be providing each Centre or department's Administrative Assistant with the key packages for employees in their area. When you return to campus, please pick up your new keys from your Administrative Assistant. Keys will be available with Administrative Assistants from Monday 10th August 2026. Prior to that date, all key pickup will be from the Facilities office.

We hope this approach will:

• Make key pickup more convenient by keeping it close to your work area.

• Reduce lineups and wait times at the Facilities office.

• Help everyone get settled back onto campus more quickly as the Fall semester approaches.

Administrative Assistants will receive separate instructions outlining the key sign-out process and the procedures for distributing keys.

We have made every effort to ensure that employees have been assigned the keys they need for appropriate access. However, if you have any questions about your keys or believe you should have received keys but have not, please inform your administrative assistant who can submit additional key request to Facilities on your behalf.
