Welcome back to the 2026-2027 academic year!
Hello Faculty,
Welcome back to the 2026-2027 academic year!
We hope everyone had an opportunity over the summer to do what you want with the people you want to do it with. The 2026-27 academic year at the Polytechnic comes with a lot to be optimistic about, with greater stability, better communication and collaboration, and a renewed focus on what makes this institution successful: the people who work and learn here.
You are the beneficiaries of being members of a strong Faculty Association who are here to support you. Some of the collectively bargained benefits of FA membership include (but are not limited to):
Professional Development opportunities including your personal PD account and special project funds that are available for larger initiatives.
Clearly defined workload expectations, and a calculator that we can use to resolve questions or disputes.
We can advocate on your behalf if there are questions about your workload or working conditions.
Clearly defined assignable time and time away during your unassigned time.
If you have questions about your rights as faculty, please reach out. Our offices are located in PA2106.
We also want to continue building a strong and engaged Faculty Association. The FA is more than the Executive; it belongs to all of us.
Most importantly, we hope you have a fantastic year. Enjoy reconnecting with colleagues, meeting your new students, and getting back to the parts of this work that remind us why we chose to be here in the first place.
Please see the attached LPFA calendar for this year’s events and meeting schedule.
We’re kicking things off with our LPFA Fall Social at Hudsons on Thursday, September 24 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at 904 2nd Ave South, Lethbridge. Come out, have some food, play a few games, and spend some time catching up with colleagues outside of work. It should be a great way to start the year together, and we hope to see a big turnout!
Our Fall Meeting will follow on September 28 from 4:15–5:45 p.m. Mark your calendars and come join us!
Here’s to a positive and productive 2026-2027 academic year.
On behalf of the Lethbridge Polytechnic Faculty Association Executive:

Kerry Edwards, Vice President, Negotiations & Welfare
